Following the truly spectacular sucess of the campaign last year we're currently raising funds for
The Big Tree Campaign 2010

In 2009 Kinveronline decided that it would be nice to see THE BIG TREE returned to the village and the campaign to raise funds was started at the Country Fayre in May. That endeavour alone raised over £400.
It quickly became obvious that the costs involved were far in excess of what was initially anticipated and that combined with the decision to expand the campaign to provide many streetside properties with their own illuminated trees resulted in a close liason with Kinver Parish Office and in turn their financial backing.
The amount of work involved was tremendous from writing begging letters to anyone who we thought might be able to help to removing, modifying and refitting all of the original wrought iron brackets. Oh the joys of Health & Safety Legislation!
It was amazing to see the supportive responce we received, Everyone we approached agreed to help either financially or manually. Local companies agreed to loan us lifting and access equipment free of charge, Parish Council technicians, Alan & Barry, busied themselves with dressing and erecting the 49 small trees and Roger Howe with his assistant Nigel worked miracles connecting all of the electrical systems. Most important, was the help and advice offered by Staffordshire County Council, who consented to us locating the BIG TREE on the frontage of the library in Vicarage Drive.Special thanks are due tpo Martin Tudor-Jones (Area Surveyor) and Graham Riley of Staffordshire Libraries.
The end result was a spectacular. The Big Tree towered 35 feet into the air bedecked with no less that 1500 mini LCD lights and a total of 49 smaller trees, each with 50 lights, lined the High Street.
The Future
One again this year we are supported by the Parish Council and 2010 will see an expansion of the scheme. We hope to increase the number of small trees to 60, filling in one or two gaps in last years display. New brackets have been ordered and they will be installed during the summer months. The Big Tree will return this year and once again we are supoported by local companies with their assurance of logistical help.
Your Help Is Still Required
However, whilst we have financial support of KInver Parish Council, we still need to raise funds for things such as The Tree itself (£200) Public Liability Insurance (£250) and unforseen expenses.(£???)
To do this we are intending to run various fund raising events including a regular raffle and of course we'll be donning our scrounging hats and trawling the streets with our begging bowls.
STOP AND THINK FOR A MOMENT ABOUT OUR VILLAGE TRADERS !
For most of this year, the High Street traders have and will continue to take a terrible bashing as a result of the roadworks. Kinveronline will always support them and we encourage you to do likewise. We hope that this year will see a fabulous display that will attract more visitors to the village and thereby boost trade.
