Default Electoral registers from the past

Hi all...still trying in vain to get help from St Peters about their grave yard where my folks are buried.....I thought maybe I can do another hopeful search of past electoral registers for Kinver, would anyone know where these records are available for viewing if at all, they years would be up to 1933...
I know for instance Birmingham's are available in their Central Library and also online, one imagines that Kinver's would not be available online...so one would need to visit wherever the actual volumes are....many thanks for any help

First port of call would have to be County records office at Stafford. The trail would then likely lead you through Codsall office and then to Parish office at Kinver, though churches no longer keep the older documents. Best of luck.
I'm following similar trails to locate my own ancestors.

Default Electoral Registers from the past

Electoral Registers which are morethan 15 years old are kept by the County Archivist who is located at the Headquarters of Staffordshire County Council. I would suspect that you will then be referred to the County Librarian at the HQ of the Library Service.

As you can no doubt appreciate the Regiisters contain personal information, and often the County Council will ask you to provide them with a written statement (such as a letter) which tells them the reason(s) why you are seeking information from their Registers. I don't think you will have any problems.

You may be asked to view the Registers in person which for some people can be an inconvenience. It is possible (depending upon the attiitude of the County Council) to obtain photocopies of the specific pages you are seeking. However, you probably will not be permitted to buy the whole Register for Kinver, even old archived versions.

I would add that during the period of the Second World War (1939-1945) the Register of Electors was know as the Civilian Register.

If you look at the entiries in the Civilian Registers do not be surprised to see some addresses completely removed with very black ink. This is becuase one or more of the people at that address were associated or involved with sensitive work or occupations associated with war work.

Whilst it may appear you have quite alot to do - you will find the people in the County Archivists office incredibly helpful.

    Good luck !

Thank you all for your input, I have indeed been in touch with the Archivists at Stafford earlier today, the link given to me this morning by Jenny Spaull......as I live over 200 miles away from Stafford.....popping into there presents a problem anyway but they did advise of their service at £22 per hour......which could be the best way out as I only need to try to establish when the one lady dissappeared from the Kinver home which was Cafe Royal, my gt aunt died there in 1933 and it's her daughter in law's history that I am trying to acquire to put the family history into perspective.........I thank you all so much for your very valuable input.

Default Electoral Registers and Business Addresses

I agree in that the Council's charged service may be your best option. However, as you are seeking information about what was once a business premises you might consider approaching the Land Registry. They too have an archive unit. It might be beneficial to you, but then again perhaps you don't feel you wish to explore different avenues of investigation. If you think my further suggestion is of any help please let me though here and I will give you an overview of the process.
