Dunsley and Gibbet Wood

This is a circular walk of about 3 miles starting and ending at The Vine. There is a long stretch of uphill walking from The Vine to Dunsley Hall.

From Kinver Lock at The Vine, head up Dunsley Road in the direction of Dunsley Hall. When you leave Kinver, Dunslay Manor Farm, a Grade II listed building, can be seen on the right. Continue along the raised path where a view of the rolling hills of South Staffordshire can be enjoyed. At the very top, the site of an old windmill is located to the left Continue to Dunsley Hall, a Grade II listed building Continue to the A449 and turn right Cross the A449 when it is safe, probably using the central reservation for each direction. Take care! Continue up the hill towards Kidderminster Turn left at the top onto path 99 Continue to Gibbet Wood and bear right. The Gibbet would have been located somewhere around here. It is said Willliam Howe’s ghost still haunts the lane Turn right at the sign post where the path bears left and head back to the A449 along the edge of the wood Turn right at the style and continue along the edge of the wood Cross the A449 and turn left Turn right opposite the entrance to the Severn Trent treatment plant. Head across the fields, back towards Dunsley manor Farm, keeping to the footpath and keeping dogs on a lead. Note the vineyard at Dunsley House, a Grade II listed building Turn left at the postbox, and then almost immediate right down steep the track Turn right at Gibraltar Turn left onto Dunsley Road to return to The Vine
