PARISH PUMP – NOVEMBER 2009

Youth Shelter saga

It seems there has been a bit of a tiff between Kinver Parish Council and the KSCA about the establishment of a Youth Shelter on Marsh Playing Fields. A strong rejection by Mrs H Dunn, chairman of the KSCA, led to the Parish Council asking if members of the KSCA or just the Chairman had rejected the scheme. There was concern over the alleged tone in the response from Mrs Dunn and lack of respect which appeared to be shown to the Council and its officers. One commends a straightforward response rather than pages of waffle.

After considerable deliberations the Parish Council finally decided to ask Councillors Mrs Joan Barlow and Mr Davies to meet the chairman of the KSCA to discuss face to face on the issues causing tension between two organisations. Is it just tension on the part of the Parish Council?

The only other item of interest (it was not a riveting agenda) was that there should be no salary increases in the budget of the West Midland Councils this year. Oh, yes, Council staff – nil; big bankers - big bonuses.

White Harte car park

At last! An effort has been made to improve the atrocious car park – all holes have been filled in but how long it will all last is anyone’s guess.

Notice Boards

A new notice board has been erected at the Stewponey, but one wonders how many in that area actually look at it. Have you seen anyone interested? However, for the umpteenth time the Parish Council has been asked to erect a second board outside the clinic as the only one is overflowing. And is anyone responsible for seeing that boards are used only by Kinver organisations and notices are not erected until 14 days before any event?
