Harleys Smokehouse, Dunsley

Eveything else. All the chat and nonsense that normally goes on around a roaring fire in your local pub.

not a very scientific approach but just by comparison on faceache -
Harleys Smoke House (Dunsley Hall) - 8,284 Likes, 715 been there
Hickory's Smoke House (Kingfisher) - 17,489 likes, 4,629 been there

I fear Harleys tardy effort to get finished & open will cost then dearly ;(

Interesting..

I have heard good things about the old Kingfisher - I dropped a friend there last night at 6pm and the large carpark was a good 75% full, which is pretty good for a Thursday.

I am keen to try both places, but I need to find someone to go with first!!

I shall probably the new Whit' first though...

(I did type this out once already but it didn't post?)

I was planning on trying one of the three establishments tomorrow with 8 pals, however it hasn't gone too well so far:

First choice - The Manor - couldn't get through to them to book a table - no-one answering the phone.
Second choice - Hickory's - no bookings available for three weeks (I find that rather incredible and can only assume it's down to the large table size required/Christmas party bookings)
Third choice - Harley's - no-one seem very keen on going there (less than glowing word of mouth/negative experiences at Dunsley Hall)

So, we'll probably go to The Manor for a drink and then a 4 course meal deal down the Shimla... It will probably be the New Year before i actaully eat at any of these places.

Thanks Boycee:

The Manor - some glowing reports, others, shall we say, no so glowing.

Hickory's - If the Faceache reports & statistics are correct, it looks like a real success story.

Harley's - I won't be going back anytime soon

Enjoy the Shimla. We have a large party -18 - going there on Friday also.

I don't usually like going out for food in groups larger than 6 - but Shimla is the exception, I've had some really good 20 people+ meals there.. (they let us have the top floor) great staff, tasty food and efficient service.

I will report back on this thread if i make it to any of the 3 new places any time soon.
