Why is Bath Lane so called?

I am wondering why bath lane is called Bath Lane?

I think you will find there is a Roman connection somwhere concerning this.
That's what I was told some years ago but it might be a local or Victirian myth.

Half way along Bath Lane going towards Bath Coppice there is a footpath off to the right leading towards The Sheepwalks.
I recall seeing some evidence of Stonework fairly close to the road but as I remember it was was Sandstone construction - hardly suitable as a bath house!

I think that the so called Roman remains were actually a folly built by the owner of the large house opposite at the junction of Bannut Tree lane and Bath Lane circa 1920's. My Dad remembers them being visible from the road when he was kid, 1950's. I think there's a write up about it but I can't remember where I've seen it.
Interesting to find out when the road was named?

It was the "Roman Baths" (i.e a Turkish style bathhouse) for Brindley Hall. Ruins still survive in woodland at w end of road
