St Peters Church Hall

A word of caution if you are thinking of booking St Peters Church Hall.... They have refused to return our booking deposit for childrens birthday party even though we cleaned the place thoroughly and left the place spotless. It was cleaner when we left than when we got there! I've since found out that they do this to people regularly (especially it would seem if you aren't known to them). I would have thought the church would be trying to engage with the local community, not ripping them off..

What exactly were the reasons given?

Reason given- The group that used hall next (their own committee) apparently stated that the hall was left in an 'unacceptable state' so they kept our money. No further substantiation or evidence was given.
They obviously need to obtain funds by whatever means they can.

Sorry to hear that. Doesn't sound very fair to me.

I suggest a formal letter of complaint to the Chair of the management committee with a copy to the Rector.
